CIRCOSIL® supports rapid and uniform binder hydration as a seeding crystal in cement hardening. Especially in ternary cement systems, the formation of ettringite, responsible for early strength, is accelerated. Using heat flow calorimetry and ultrasonic measurements, we were able to demonstrate that CIRCOSIL® significantly accelerates the formation of ettringite in OPC/CAC, OPC/CSA, and mixed systems with CEMII.
Due to its constant, non-compressible pore volume, CIRCOSIL® an excellent water retention agent. The combination of seeding crystal effect and water retention has a significant influence on the clinker reaction of the cement system and leads to a more uniform hardening reaction.
