CIRCOSIL® has a high specific surface area (BET 65 m2/g), which is based on its house-of-cards structure. The platelet-shaped crystal structure allows for loading with organic active substances such as defoamers for dry mortar applications. Mercury porosimetry measurements show that CIRCOSIL® has capillary-active mesopores in the range of 14 nm. These mesopores in CIRCOSIL® can be advantageous for the fractional desorption of the active substance. Conventional silicas have no 'internal porosity'. CIRCOSIL® thus provides a unique selling proposition in the field of carrier materials and offers new application possibilities.
